This is a wonderful piece of Navajo artistry! This piece of Native American jewelry is Navajo hand crafted, by artist Sharon McCarthy, out of authentic sterling silver and man made Opal. A total of TWO stones (ONE in each earring) are delicately placed in hand cut bezel settings, while being accented with hand cut silver work that creates a stunning silver leaf design for a phenomenal look. The earrings are stamped sterling.

Most people know Opal for its distinctive play of color, it is a semi-transparent solidified mineral composed of silicon and water, and it gets its name from the Latin word "Oplus" meaning precious stone. Opal is the birthstone for October. It is believed to release self-consciousness allowing spontaneous action, and awakens psychic and mystical qualities.

Sterling Silver is a metal, which consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper. Although any metal can make up the 7.5% of non-silver component, years of study have shown that copper is most compatible, while aiding the solidity and durability of the metal without harming its beautiful color. The small amount of 7.5% copper added to all silver has almost no effect on the metals overall value. Due to the durability of sterling silver it is not only used for jewelry, but household accessories as well. Silver is known to last a lifetime with the proper care.
