DESCRIPTION:

Take advantage of the great price on this amazing bracelet! This piece of Native American jewelry is Zuni hand crafted by artist Effie Calavaza, out of genuine sterling silver and real Turquoise stones. The bracelet has a total of ELEVEN stones, SEVEN of which are delicately set in hand cut bezels in the midst of two gorgeous silver snake designs, while the other FOUR are inlaid and create the snakes' eyes. Silver beads and stamped patterns can be seen accenting the cuff for an outstanding finish. The snake is found in many healing and fertility rituals. It is also connected with lightning, speed, and being able to move undetected. The bracelet is stamped Zuni and is hallmarked by the artist.

Turquoise is the birthstone of December. It is believed that turquoise tends to bring good fortune, strength and helps overcome illness. Turquoise got its name from the Levantine traders called Turks who brought the stone to Europe from Persia via Turkey centuries ago. Native Americans have prized turquoise since the time of the Aztecs, who mined it in New Mexico. The natural variations that occur in turquoise are part of its appeal and beauty.

Well-known artist Effie Calavaza is from the Zuni Tribe, which is located in New Mexico. Effie was taught by her husband Juan Calavaza and began silver work in 1956. She combined her husband's work and her designs to create some of the most beautiful and most distinctive Native American art! Her hand done work is among the best and most recognized jewelry in the southwest. Her jewelry is stamped with the family hallmark EFFIE C. ZUNI, which is used by Effie and her three daughters Georgiana Yatsattie, Gloria Jean Garcia, and Susie Calavaza. Effie's daughters assist her in the jewelry making (she shared her spouse's mark, JUAN C. ZUNI, until his death ca. 1970). To this day Effie's work is collected throughout the world and she continues making jewelry because she enjoys it!

Posted by Kerstin B. | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I was looking for a multicolor ring fitting to the native american jewelry I already have and I found exactly what I was looking for for a very good price. Purchase on the side was easy and fast. International shipping took about 1,5 weeks - that's ok. The ring is very beautiful and in very good quality. Thank you so much.

    Very Satisfied Customer
Posted by John M. | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I ordered an Opal Necklace with matching Earrings, also a Turquoise and Malachite Necklace. I was so pleased with my first order with Native American Jewelry, I ordered within the week, an Onyx and Tiger Eye necklace with matching earrings. My wife was extremely pleased with the gifts and has worn them since with many complements about them. Shipping was fast and well packaged. I will definitely be ordering in the future from Native American Jewelry. If you are considering purchasing Southwest American Jewelry, I would highly recommend Native American Jewelry!

    Effie C. WOW
Posted by Pat C. | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I love it! The Effie Calavaza pendant that I purchased is so similar to the belt buckle that my husband gave me when we moved from N.J. to Wyo in the mid 1970's, also by Effie C. It brings back wonderful memories. Love her work, hope to get more.
